Modern Warfare 2’s airport level is one of the most discussed sequences in the history of the medium. So when the scriptwriter behind it speaks up, it’s probably worth listening.

Modern Warfare 2’s development budget $40-50 million

How much does it cost to make the sequel to the most popular shooter of 2007? According to LA Times, development costs for Modern Warfare 2 were in the neighborhood of $40-50 million. As staggering as that may seem, that figure is dwarfed by the marketing budget for its launch, an epic $200 million. With $550 million in sales so far and analysts predicting the game to eventually earn $1 billion, Activision has made a hefty yet successful investment in Modern Warfare 2.

Reports of Russia banning Modern Warfare 2 incorrect

Yesterday it was widely reported that Russia had banned Modern Warfare 2 due to the controversial “No Russian” mission near the beginning of the game and that the government had ordered a recall of all copies pending a re-evaluation. Unfortunately those reports, originating from Hellforge via Russian game site got PS3, were quite erroneous.
